With the joint efforts of both sides, the bilateral relations of China and Bangladesh will be promoted to a new level, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Zheng Qingdian said.

He said China and Bangladesh are close neighbors and has enjoyed a very good relationship. He thanked Bangladesh government for its support after the devastating Sichuan earthquake and for holding the Beijing Olympics and Beijing Paralympics.

"I firmly believe, with the joint efforts of both sides, the bilateral relations will be promoted to a new level," Zheng said this at a National Day reception here Wednesday held by Chinese embassy in Bangladesh to celebrate the 59th anniversary of founding of the People's Republic of China.

During the reception, many guests praised the successful host of Beijing Olympics and spoke highly of the economic and social achievement China has made.

"Nobody can repeat the Beijing Olympic," said Army Chief General Moeen Ahmed.

He said China will launch manned spacecraft Shenzhou-7, which will be "an important step" made in China's space technology.

More than 300 guests, including government officials, leaders of major parties, representatives of the Chinese companies in Bangladesh and some foreign diplomats attended the reception.
