Sacred Mountains of China apply for "World Natural and Cultural Heritage"

"The Sacred Five Mountains of China" – Mt. Tai in the east, Mt. Hua in the west, Mt. Heng in the south, Mt. Heng in the north, Mt. Song in the center are trying to be enlisted in the World Natural and Cultural Heritage.

Recently, experts just finished preparation of "Application of the Sacred Five Mountains of China for World Natural and Cultural Heritage" in Hengyang city of Hunan. The application is scheduled to be submitted to the United Nations World Heritage Committee this year.

The application was led by Hunan Provincial Department of Construction, started in 2006. A "3 year 3 step" plan was made: to complete preparation of application papers this year, to welcome experts' inspection in 2009 , and strive to pass vote of the General Assembly of the World Heritage and enlisted as World Heritage in 2010 .
