Travel volume grew steadily during the National Holiday golden week, the first long holiday in 2008 after the implementation of new holiday system, according to report released on the evening of October 5 by National Holiday Tourism Work Leading Group Office.
From September 29 to October 5, 119 tourist resorts in the National Holiday Tourism Forecasting System received a total of 18,291,000 tourists, up by 13.2 percent than last year, and ticket sales grew by 16.4 percent.
According to the monitoring data issued on the 5th by Ministry of Commerce, from September 29 to October 5, the total volume of retail sales reached over 420 billion yuan, an increase of 21% over last year's National Holiday golden week.
