Sixty-one villagers were hospitalized for food poisoning in northwest China's Gansu Province, local authorities said Monday.
The victims, all from the Gucheng Village in Beiwan Township of Jingyuan County, all attended a wedding banquet last Thursday.
They have been suffering from fever, stomach aches, diarrhea and vomiting, an un-named county government spokesman said.
"Currently, 17 people have been discharged but 44 are still in the hospital. No one has died," he said.
Samples of the banquet food have been sent to the Gansu Provincial Disease Control Center for testing.
"The test results will come out within a couple of days," said the anonymous spokesman.
A local newspaper, Lanzhou Morning Post, reported Monday, that some 650 people attended the wedding banquet held at noon on Thursday. Duck, donkey meat, chicken and shrimp were the main dishes served at the dinner. Source: Xinhua
