With the impact of the international financial crisis on substantial economy, the employment outlook in China is still optimistic, said the bulletin on national social security situation of the third quarter issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

From January to September, 9.36 million new entrants entered the labor force in towns and cities, while 4.09 million laid-off workers were re-employed. 1.19 million women over 40-years-old and men over 50-years-old who had difficulties in finding a job were re-employed. The number of registered unemployed people in towns and cities was 8.3 million, 50,000 less than last year. The registered unemployment rate in towns and cities was 4%, which was roughly the same as the end of last year. For workers in the Sichuan earthquake disaster region and surrounding provinces, 219,000 were transferred to other places and employed, and 865,000 were employed locally.

Yin Chengji, spokesman for the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the PRC said that relevant Chinese government departments were paying close attention to the difficulties export-oriented enterprises were facing in the southeast coastal area of China, and would actively help these enterprises and workers overcome temporary difficulties.
