Two people were killed and at least 20 injured in a tunnel blast on an under-construction highway, on Saturday, in southwest China's Chongqing municipality, according to local transport authority.

The accident occurred at 12 a.m. when more than 20 workers were in the tunnel on Dianjiang-Linshui highway. One worker died on the spot, and another died on the way to hospital.

At least 20 others were injured, with one severely.

An investigation team was established to probe the accident.
