The construction of suburban railway line -- S6, connecting 11 new satellite cities including Shunyi, Tongzhou and Yizhuang has been confirmed in its initial stage.
The rail which is set to stretch over 100 kilometers and be completed before 2020 will become Beijing's longest rail for transportation.
Currently, the main linkage between Beijing's satellite cities and the downtown Beijing is mainly the national highways and expressways. Residents of the new satellite cities have to spend half a day to reach the center of the city.
As a result, fast and convenient city-suburban lines and suburban lines are very important to the transportation between the city center and satellite cities and travels between the satellites cities.
