Construction of the 2011 Xi'an International Horticultural Exposition garden area started today,november 11, in the Xi'an Chanba Ecological District.
The 2011 Xi'an International Horticultural Exposition is the third international horticultural exposition hosted by a city in China, after Kunming and Shenyang hosted similar expositions in 1999 and 2006 respectively. The Exposition will last 183 days from the opening in April 2011 to its closing in October.
More than 100 cities and institutions have been invited to participate in the exposition, including over 30 cities outside China, over 40 cities in China and over 30 international institutions from the horticultural industry. The exposition is expected to have total number of guests exceed 12 million visits. According to the plan, there will be 100 exposition gardens in the garden area.
