Two people were killed and 16 others injured after a tour bus went off a bridge in Zhejiang Province Wednesday, the local traffic authority said.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. when a 55-seat shuttle bus carrying 21 people crashed through a guardrail on Jinliwen highway in Wenzhou City.
The bus fell off a 6-meter high bridge after destroying 50 meters of railing.
A man and a woman died at the scene, 16 others sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital. Two people, including the driver, sustained serious injuries but doctors said they were stable. Three other people on the bus were said to be fine.
No other people or vehicles were affected by the accident.
A section of the highway closed but has since been reopened.
The bus, registered by Tianxia tourism and transportation company, based in Jishou city in Hunan Province, was en route to Taizhou City of Zhejiang.
Traffic officials were investigating the cause of the accident.
