Eight people died after their car struck two other vehicles in China's Fujian Province early on Wednesday morning, the local traffic authority said.

The victims, all employees of the Cuifeng hot spring hotel in Xiamen city, were returning to the hotel after an overnight trip to a Karaoke club.

The overloaded car hit the rear of a motorcycle, then veered into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a truck at about 5 a.m. in Tong'an District, in the city's north.

All eight, six men and two women, died at the scene.

Local traffic officials were investigating the incident.
