A Tibetologist Delegation from China visited Italy between November 14 and 17.
They held extensive meetings and in-depth exchanges on the Tibetan issue with personages from the political, economic and academic circles in Italy to help Italians have a better understanding of Tibet.
During the visit, from an academic perspective and through use of detailed data and concrete cases, the delegation elaborated on the development and progress made in Tibet since its democratic reform in 1959, the system of regional autonomy for ethnic Tibetans, China's policies on religious freedom and the protection and development of ethnic Tibetan culture.
The Italian side pointed out that the introduction by the Tibetologists from China brought them a new understanding of Tibet, and hoped that the Italian and Chinese sides would continue to hold exchanges so that the Italian people can have a better understanding of the real situation in Tibet.
