The Confucius Aristocratic Family Genealogy will be printed at the end of this year after ten years of revision. The total number of descendants in this updated edition exceeds two million, not only dissolving the crisis of the family's discontinuity, but also providing precious historical material for researchers.
With a history of over 2,500 years, the Confucius Aristocratic Family Genealogy is recognized as the world's longest family tree by Guinness World Records.
To date, the Confucius Aristocratic Family Genealogy has already gone through four major revisions, with the last one in 1937 during the Republic of China period (1911-1949), which recorded 560,000 descendants.
This revision started in 1998 and lasts for ten years of data collection and trimming. The newly collected living descendants hit more than over 1.3 million, making the number of Confucius's descendants is estimated to surpass two million.
The highest position in the family hierarchy of Confucius registered still alive is the 68th generation of descendants bearing the 'Chuan' generation name and the lowest one is the 83rd generation of descendants bearing the 'Nian' generation name.
