Shanghai police detained a man whose gun went off while he was riding a bus on Thursday.

A female passenger sustained injuries to her nose when the gun went off at about 11:49 a.m. on a bus traveling downtown.

The gun's owner was a 21-year-old man. He was not from Shanghai.

Police seized the home-made gun from his bag. An investigation is underway.
