15 Chinese scientists elected as academicians of TWAS

According to the Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 15 Chinese scientists have been recently elected as academicians of The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World(TWAS).

12 of them are from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and one from the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Yang Pan-Chyr and Lee Der-Tsai are both academicians of Taiwan's "Academia Sinica".

The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World was formerly known as the Third World Academy of Sciences and was established on November 10, 1983. Its headquartered is in Trieste, Italy. It now has over 900 academicians, including at least 17 Nobel Prize winners.
