Police in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality are chasing a man who was suspected of having stabbed his son's schoolmate to death on Friday afternoon, the local government said.
Zhao Wen fled his son's school, Gaogu Middle School in Gaogu Township of Pengshui County, after the killing, a spokesman with the county government said.
Zhao's son had been hospitalized with head injuries after a fight with his schoolmate, a teenager surnamed Cai, early on Friday afternoon, the spokesman said.
Cai was being questioned in his teacher's office when Zhao Wen broke in and stabbed him with a knife. Cai was seriously injured and died later in hospital.
The local government has launched an investigation.
