Next month, a group of CRH (China Railway High-speed) sleepers are expected to cover Beijing to Shanghai and Beijing to Hangzhou routes with the top speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The ticket fare will be higher than soft-seat tickets. The trains are likely to run on alternating days in the initial stage. This will be China's first group of CRH sleepers.

Officials from the railway department revealed on the morning of November 24 that the new CRH sleeper comprises of 16 carriages. The carriages on both ends, compartment No. 1 and compartment No. 16, are second-class soft-seat coaches and compartment No. 8 is the dining compartment. The remaining 13 carriages are all cushioned berth carriages.
