Four people were killed as steel pipes being hoisted by a crane fell in a dockyard of the eastern Zhejiang Province on Tuesday.

The accident happened in the Shenzhou dockyard in Xiangshan county at 12:40 p.m. Several steel pipes fell as they were being lifted, killing one worker on the spot.

Three others died later in hospital, while another worker is still receiving medical treatment and has no life threatening injuries, said sources at the hospital.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.

Work in the dockyard was suspended, and the government of the Xiangshan county ordered thorough check-up in all mining and construction businesses.
