Surrounded by a sparkling moat, the towering ancient City Wall is a symbol of the ancient city of Xi'an. To protect this historical site, relevant departments have recently drafted the Xi'an City Wall Protection Regulations. Those who carve, write, deface, damage or remove parts of the City Wall will be subject to a maximum fine of 10,000 yuan.

The Xi'an City Wall was built in the early years of the Ming Dynasty on the foundations of the Tang Dynasty imperial city of Chang'an. With a total length of 13.74 kilometers and with a history spanning more than 600 years, it is the world's largest and most complete ancient military fortress still in existence.
