Two people were rescued on Thursday after police captured a man who held them hostage after robbing a shop here in eastern China.
The suspect, who gave his surname as Ming, robbed a convenience shop of cash at about 4:30 p.m., using a knife, Shanghai police said.
He fled into a house and took the hostages as police tried to capture him. One of the hostages was a young woman; the other was an older person whose gender wasn't specified. At about 6:20 p.m., police captured the suspect and rescued the hostages, who were unharmed.
The man said he had come to Shanghai a couple of days previously from central Hubei Province. The case was still being investigated. Source:Xinhua
