The Mao Zedong Relic Museum, which is located in Shaoshan, Hunan, will be fully opened to the public on December 25, according to the Changsha Evening Newspaper.

The museum will display a collection of relics of Chairman Mao, including a household income and expense account from January 1968, one pair of pajamas stitched with 73 patches that had accompanied Mao for nearly 30 years, and a suit comprised of a patchwork cotton sweater and pants, as well as toothbrushes and toothpowder he used.

Chairman Mao's study and bedroom in Zhongnanhai is "moved" inside the relic museum.

By December 25, more than 6,500 items of Mao's relics will have "arrived" at the museum, of which, over 800 precious cultural relics will be on display.

Zhongnanhai study has also been "moved" for display

Mao Zedong Relic Museum is divided into five parts and will display over 800 exhibits reflecting the real condition of Chairman Mao's daily life in various aspects.

These include: a towel with 54 patches used by Mao, a detailed account of daily expenses, the Chinese tunic suit he wore while meeting with Nixon in 1972, and the tung oil lamp Mao used in his adolescence.

In addition, the museum will also exhibit a number of Mao's letters and poems in his original handwriting, which will be revealed to the public for the first time.

A replica of the Juxiang Study in Zhongnanhai, where Mao lived during his lifetime, will also be on display. This exhibit, which shows the study and bedroom in Fengze Garden of Zhongnanhai, is filled with classical works from all time periods from China and abroad, as well as poetry anthologies and collected works from the past 1,000 years. There is one big bed, half of which is covered with books.
