First direct flight to Taiwan takes off |

"I have been waiting for this day for 60 years,"Zhou Fudong, a 79-year-old Taiwan compatriot, said. He was so excited that tears filled his eyes when he passed the border inspection at Hubei Wuhan Tianhe Airport.
At 1:30 pm on December 25, 154 passengers boarded MU2087, the first direct flight from Wuhan to Taipei Taoyuan Airport, carrying with them holiday wishes from the ground crew and border inspection officers.
It was learned that Wuhan is the only city in the six provinces of central China to open direct cross-Strait air flights.
On December 25, the Wuhan Branch of China Eastern Airlines put into operation direct flights MU2087/2088 to and from Taipei Taoyuan Airport scheduled once every Thursday.
The exact schedule is: departing at 1:30 pm from Wuhan Tianhe Airport and arriving at 3:30 pm at Taipei Taoyuan Airport, and departing at 4:30 pm from Taoyuan Airport and arriving at 6:45 pm at Tianhe Airport.
