A fire engulfed a residential area in Lhasa on Saturday afternoon. No casualties were reported.

The blaze erupted at about 5 p.m. in the northern part of downtown Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China. It was extinguished in about an hour.

Three houses were burnt down but no one was at home when the flame broke out.

An initial investigation showed that the fire might be triggered by a household gas tank leak, the police said.

On Thursday night, a home appliances warehouse in downtown Lhasa caught fire, but no one was injured.
