A group of 48 teenage Peking opera singers from Beijing will perform in Taipei over the New Year's holiday.

The singers, averaging 14-years-old, are from the art troupe of Beijing Vocational Institute of Local Opera and Arts.

The teens will stage four performances starting on Dec. 30 in Taiwan. The show will include famous Peking opera episodes such as Wusong Beats the Tiger and At the Crossroads, said Yang Hongyi, principal of the school, on Sunday.

The young singers' visit to Taipei could help increase understanding and friendship between people across the straits, Yang said.
