In 2008, the tourists traveled between Fujian and Taiwan via the "Small Three Links" routes amounted to 1.047 million person-times, up by 34.6%, reaching a new high once again, according to the statistics from the Taiwan Affairs Office of Fujian Provincial People's Government.

Statistics shows that in 2008, passenger flow on the Xiamen-Kinmen route reached 911,000, up 34.6% year-on-year; 72,000 passenger trips passed through the Mawei-Matsu route, up 35.8% from the previous year; and passenger flow on the Quanzhou-Kinmen route was 64,000, up 36.2% year-on-year.

Since the "Small Three Links" routes were opened in January 2001, total passenger flow traveling through the routes between Fujian and Taiwan had already reached 3.727 million, with an average annual growth rate of 82.9% by the end of 2008.

The Small Three Links (xiǎo sān tōng in Pinyin), also called Little Three Links or Mini Three Links, allows for limited postal, transportation, and trade links between Fujian's Xiamen, Mawei and Quanzhou cities of mainland China, and Kinmen and Matsu of Taiwan.
