On January 6, when the Ministry of Health reported a confirmed human case of bird flu in Beijing, the Ministry of Agriculture immediately organized related departments in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province to enlarge the scope of inspection, and to carry out urgent epidemic examinations of all poultry flocks.
After epidemic surveillance and epidemiological inspection, no bird flu cases were found in the above municipalities and province.
Results of vaccination inspections since November 2008 show that during the period of autumn animal vaccinations, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province had all conducted compulsory vaccinations on poultry that was supposed to receive it.
The acceptance rate of the vaccination antibodies reached over 92%, above the required standard for the nation. The autumn vaccination campaign started in September and October of 2008. Since then the nationwide coverage rate for the bird flu vaccination has exceeded 95%, and the acceptance rate of vaccination antibodies is above the national standard.
Since June 2008, no high-pathogenic bird flu cases have occurred in China.
