China will launch trial of the national leisure tourism programme and promote the implementation of the paid vacation system, according to information released at the National Tourism Working Conference held recently.

Shao Qiwei, Chairman of the National Tourism Administration, said that the government shall promote the development of domestic tourism, develop inbound tourism actively and outbound tourism orderly, take efforts to improve confidence in the market and foster the hot spots in consumption to maintain steady and rapid development of the tourism industry.

Surveys show that the Chinese are still very willing to spend on travelling.

Total revenue of China's tourism industry is expected to have reached 1.14 trillion yuan in 2008 (up by around 4%), maintaining a stable development.
