A high-class swimming club will be opened in the Water Cube, Wang Chun, executive deputy director of the Olympic Green management committee, revealed on January 8, 2008.
Wang said that, according to plans, the Water Cube will be divided into four sections: from north to south, there will be a high-class swimming club for members, a swimming competition area, an office area and a water park.
The swimming club will occupy a part of the northern area of the Water Cube and the practice pool on the west side. The high-level club will adopt a membership system. The swimming competition area will hold sporting events and sufficient seats will be reserved for spectators.
Located in the southern part of the Water Cube, the water park will be an amusement park open to the public. It will contain an artificial surfing beach and many other water amusement facilities. When finished, it will be the largest water amusement centre in Beijing.
