Solar power to be an important energy source in China around 2050 |

The Action Plan for Solar Energy was approved for implementation, according to the 2009 Annual Work Conference of the Chinese Academy of Sciences held on January 12.
The plan is divided into three phases: distributed utilization of solar energy by 2015, substitution utilization by 2025 and extensive utilization by 2035, aiming to make solar energy one of China's important energy sources around 2050.
An official at the Chinese Academy of Sciences noted that the implementation of the Solar Action Plan will foster a scientific and innovative system to support the development of the solar energy industry in China.
The launch of the plan will promote the establishment of a number of public platforms for solar energy technologies as well as research centers and the eventual formation of a scientific and innovative value chain for the utilization of solar energy from basic research and application to marketing, the official added.
