The largest ski park in Asia with natural snow opened on January 12 on the west slope of Mt. Changbai, in northeast China's Jilin province.
At present, it is the only ski park in China featuring natural snow and focused on extreme mountain skiing. The Mt. Changbai International Natural Ski Park, situated in the western scenic portion of Mt. Changbai, is also China's first ski park where transportation relies solely on high-powered snowmobiles.
There are five natural ski runs, of which the longest one is a 7-kilometer extreme ski run which, to date, is the longest one in China. The natural ski runs of the Mt. Changbai International Natural Ski Park are designed to follow the natural lines of Mt. Changbai's volcanic cone.
The ski park spreads from the mountain tundra zone with an altitude of 2,500 meters to the mountain betula ermanii zone with an altitude of 1,700 meters. The vertical drop of the ski run is 800 meters and the slope measures 8 kilometers in length.
