Starting in 2009, South China's Yunnan Province, a major tourist destination, is tap issuing its "Travel Passport" nationwide. the "passport" allows holders to enjoy preferential services and discounted prices when they visit nearly 100 designated scenic spots that have joined the program in Yunnan.

The "Travel Passport" has two versions, a red one and a blue one, according to the Yunnan Tourism Association. The red version is issued for important events. The first edition of the red version, which is valid for two years, was issued on June 1, 2008, just before the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games.

The blue version, with a valid period of five years, was first promoted on January 1, 2009. It is being distributed as a gift to applicants of the "colorful Yunnan themed credit card" issued by the China Merchants Bank.

The blue version of the "Yunnan Travel Passport" integrates introductions to nearly 100 tourist attractions, including Grand View Park, Butterfly Spring, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Heshun old town, Gaoligong Mountain Nature Park and Xishuangbanna Primitive Forest Park.

Holders of the travel passport can enjoy a 15% to 60% discount on admission tickets to the designated tourist attractions.
