A mixed commercial-residential building in downtown Wuhan City, central China's Hubei Province, is on fire.

It is still unknown whether there are any casualties.

The fire broke out in the nine-story Yuanxiang Building in the Hanzhengjie Wholesale Market at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday. It is still burning.

The ground, second and third floors are a mix of stores and warehouses. The rest of the building is all residences. It is not known how many people live there.

Xinhua reporters said the scene had been cordoned off. Dozens of fire engines and medical workers are on the scene.
