Li Yong'an, General Manager of the China Three Gorges Project Corporation, said on February 18 at the 2009 Working Conference that the task constructing the main portion of the Three Gorges Project has been completed one year ahead of schedule.

In 2008, all units in the Three Gorges Project Right-Bank Powerhouse started production. The Three Gorges Project has met the condition of raising the water level to 175 meters, and realized the tentative objective of impoundment. Except for an extension project for a ship lift, all the construction projects listed in the preliminary design have been finished one year ahead of schedule, with great overall construction quality.
