On the morning of February 26, 2009, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade held a press conference on the World Expo to be held in Shanghai, China in 2010, introducing the latest developments and the overall ticketing plans for the Shanghai Expo.
According to Zhong Yanqun, fulltime deputy director of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai Executive Committee, standard day single day admission is priced at 160 yuan, standard day special admission is 100 yuan, peak day single day admission is 200 yuan, peak day special admission is 120 yuan, and evening admission is 90 yuan. Three day admission and 7 day admission tickets are available for 400 and 900 yuan respectively, with each day being roughly 20 percent cheaper than the price of a standard day single day admission ticket.
Ticketing for the World Expo 2010 Shanghai is divided into advance sales before the Expo and sales during the Expo. Advance sales are divided into three phases. Phase one is from March 27 to June 30, 2009. Peak day single day admission and standard day single day admission tickets will be sold to groups including government organs, enterprises, institutions and NGOs.
Phase two of advance sales is from July 1 to December 31, 2009. Peak day single day admission and standard day single day admission tickets will be sold to groups and individuals.
Phase three of advance sales is from January 1, 2010 to April 30, 2010. The tickets sold to groups and individuals will include peak day single day admission, peak day special admission, standard day single day admission, standard day special admission, 3 day admission and 7 day admission.
Tickets for the World Expo 2010 Shanghai will be sold through the organizer's own channels, designated agencies and World Expo tour designated travel agencies. Those who plan to purchase tickets outside China can buy tickets through the World Expo's authorized ticket agencies in their countries or regions.
Starting May 1, 2010, when the Shanghai World Expo officially starts, the public can buy tickets via ticket counters at the venue and at self-help ticket kiosks.
There are already 231 exhibitors—185 countries and 46 international organizations—that have confirmed their participation in the Shanghai World Expo.
