The ChangJiang Times reported that teachers and students of Wuhan Tibet Middle School received a present on the first day of the Tibetan New Year. The Wuhan Municipal Committee of the CPC and the Wuhan Municipal Government decided to invest 150 million yuan in the construction of a new campus for Wuhan Tibet Middle School covering an area of more than 100 mu (about 66666.67 square meters) at the bank of the East Lake. The new campus will cover an area of 30,000 square meters, which is twice as large as the existing campus. The government will make all efforts to open the new campus to students in March of next year.

In August 2005, Hubei Province's only Tibetan Class moved from Jingzhou to Wuhan, officially establishing the Wuhan Tibet Class. In December 2006, it was renamed Wuhan Tibet Middle School. At present, Wuhan Tibet Middle School has 718 students and 79 full-time teachers. In 2007, all of the 41 graduates of Wuhan Tibet Middle School passed admissions examinations and were enrolled in universities or junior colleges nationwide. In 2008, all of its 37 graduates passed admissions examinations and were enrolled in key national universities.
