Six people were killed and 13 others injured Wednesday after a truck carrying opera players fell into the valley in east China's Fujian Province, local police said.

The accident occurred in Nanshan Township of Nanping City at about 5:30 p.m., when a truck with 21 people including Huangmei Opera actors dashed out of the roadbed in a downslope turning and fell into the valley.

Six died at the scene and the 13 injured were rushed to hospitals. The conditions of the injured were not immediately known. A father and his daughter were unharmed, rescuers said.

The actors from central China's Hubei Province were on the way to a performance in Fujian, they said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
