China's first report on city distribution competitiveness was published in Beijing on March 26.

The report, entitled Chinese Cities' Distribution Competitiveness Report, said that of 33 cities in the Chinese mainland, the top 10 cities in terms of their all-round strength in city distribution competitiveness are, in order, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Qingdao, Dalian, Shenzhen, Wuhan and Chengdu.

According to Yang Genquan, Executive Editor-in-Chief of the report, the competitiveness of city distribution is a comprehensive index system covering nine aspects, such as the scale, structure and density of the distribution industry, and 116 indices.

It can comprehensively examine cities' competitive advantages and disadvantages in every aspect of distribution.

Liu Puhe, Director of the Distribution Productivity Promotion Center of China Commerce, believes that the ultimate goal of researching the competitiveness of city distribution is to discover the shortcomings that restrain the prosperity of the city distribution industry and sustainable economic development, to guide the cities in breaking down bottlenecks in urban development, to nurture growth potential and to provide cities with valuable strategic advice for the planning of distribution development and the selection of development paths.

Produced under the leadership of the Distribution Research Center of China's Renmin University and the Distribution Productivity Promotion Center of China Commerce, the report was completed within one year with the support of the Ministry of Commerce, the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the Development Research Center of the State Council, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
