Falling crane parts kill five workers at east China construction site

Five workers were killed by falling spare parts of a crane at a construction site in Qingdao, a coastal city in east China's Shandong Province, on Tuesday, local authorities said.

The accident occurred at 10:10 a.m. when a crane demolished a building there.

Leading officials of Qingdao City arrived at the site immediately to organize rescue operation. Investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, an official said.
