Fifteen women workers were hospitalized in the northeastern Heilongjiang Province but cause of their illness remained unknown, local sources said Sunday.

A total of 20 workers, from the Shuanghui Beidahuang Food Co., Ltd. in Wangkui County, have developed symptoms of dizziness, nausea and vomiting since Thursday, some of whom even reported twitching and dottiness, said Hu Junfeng, general manager of the company.

Five workers have been discharged from hospitals.

It is unknown whether their illness was caused by working environment like air quality problem or chemical poisoning, said Guo Junjie, vice president of the Wangkui Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Doctors are not sure whether their illness could be life-threatening and any sequela might be left. But they have ruled out the possibility of food poisoning and contracting A/H1N1influenza.
