China's Ministry of Health said a suspected case of influenza A/H1N1 was reported in central Hubei Province on Sunday evening.
The case involved a 20-year-old Chinese man who recently returned home at Wuhan, capital of Hubei, from Canada. He took a flight from Canada to Guangzhou in south China on May 24, and traveled back to Wuhan by train on May 29.
The man developed a fever and a sore throat on the next day and was sent to hospital for medical observation. Local disease control centers later said he was tested positive to A/H1N1 flu.
The health ministry said the patient was in a stable condition at present. A total of 14 people who had a close contact with him have been found and put under medical observation.
As of early Monday, the Chinese mainland has reported 33 confirmed flu cases and one suspected case.
