More than 3,000 representatives from civil police, armed police and fire fighters took an oath in Beijing on June 23, marking the launch of security work for the 60th anniversary of the National Day.

"Today marks the 100-day countdown to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China," said Wang Anshun, deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Judicial and Law Enforcement Committee. "Beijing starts to launch comprehensive security work for the National Day."

"A safe and smooth National Day is crucial for the successful National Day celebrations," Wang said. "Beijing's security forces at all levels will make the greatest efforts, prepare with the highest standards, implement security work to perfection, and greet the National Day with the best environment. By fully drawing on the successful experience of security works during the Olympic Games, we will ensure the absolute safety of the National Day celebrations by adopting the strictest measures."
