China is holding a large-scale training session in Beijing for municipal-level anti-graft officials in public security departments.

The Ministry of Public Security said Saturday that work of these officials can determine if the whole public security system can succeed in fighting against corruption because municipal-level public security departments are important links between the central authorities and county-level public security forces.

The ministry also said that 2009 is a tough year for Chinese police with "the most arduous tasks" and that the aim of this training is to ensure "effective implementation" of the central government's anti-graft policies.

Besides these anti-graft officials, China has also trained or is planning to train hundreds of thousands of procurators, court presidents, police chiefs, prison wardens, and county Communist Party secretaries.

The trainings are part of China's nationwide campaign to ensure grassroots officials dealing with the public can tackle problems before they lead to social unrest.
