On July 8, Huanqiu.com revealed that "Xinjiang independence" activists are using the famous US social networking website Facebook to facilitate their communication worldwide. The news immediately triggered a boycott by Chinese netizens.

Over 90 percent of Huanqiu.com netizens said that "Xinjiang independence" activists, carrying out this type of "online activity" severely violates China's national interests and agreed that Facebook should immediately shut down the "Xinjiang independence" online group.

Huanqiu.com reported on July 8 that an online group named "Global protests. Support Uygurs to seek independence" appeared on Facebook. This group actively encourages "Uygurs around the world to unite and launch large-scale global protests" and calls for protests at China's embassies around the world. This group has overstepped the boundaries of normal cyber activities and become a foothold for "Xinjiang independence" organizations' collusion and alliance overseas.

Chinese netizens have expressed great dissatisfaction. Huanqiu.com conducted a survey, entitled "Do you think Facebook should immediately close its 'Xinjiang independence' group?" on the afternoon of July 8. By 6 pm on July 9, 94.2 percent of netizens, with 5,207 votes, said that it "should be closed."

Meanwhile, Chinese netizens agreed that Facebook should be punished for being a medium for "Xinjiang independence" activists' dissemination and inciting riots. 81.7 percent of netizens voted to support punishing Facebook for conniving "Xinjiang independence" forces.
