Nine people were confirmed dead and two others injured after a motor vehicle collision Sunday night in northern China's Hebei Province, local government said on Monday.

A white Santana car with four people aboard ran into a Honda Odyssey carrying seven at around 9:38 p.m. Sunday on a highway in Nanpi county of Hebei, leaving nine people dead and another two injured.

The injured have been hospitalized and are reportedly in stable conditions.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
