Regions in northern China would experience thunderstorms on Saturday, following days of sweltering weather with maximum temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said Friday.

The eastern part of Inner Mongolia, most part of North China, and northeast Liaoning Province have been parched since Wednesday, worsening drought in these regions.

Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, parts of Shanxi and Shandong provinces reported maximum temperatures of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius Friday, with the western part of Liaoning Province registering 40.8 degrees Celsius.

Southeastern China will experience hot weather conditions at the weekend.
