The first Xiamen-Kinmen swimming event, crossing the Taiwan Strait, took place here on Saturday.

A total of 100 swimmers, the same number from each side of the Strait, took part in the event, with the eldest at 61 and the youngest 15.

They set out from Yefengzhai Village, Huandao Road of Xiamenat at 10:30 A.M., and arrived at Shuangkou Village of Kinmen.

Awards ceremony and celebrating gatherings will be held right after.

The event was co-organized by the Chinese Swimming Association, Xiamen Municipal Government and the Chinese Taipei Swimming Association, Kinmen County Government.
