Three travelers from Shanghai and a local tour guide went missing Saturday after a landslide in east China's Zhejiang Province, a spokesman with the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration said.

The three people were among a group of 18 travelers, all from Shanghai, the spokesman said.

They encountered a landslide at a scenic gorge at about 3 or 4 p.m. in the She Autonomous County of Jingning in Zhejiang's Lishui City, and the three travelers and their guide, a local farmer, were swept away by flash flood, he said.

Rescuers are searching the area for the missing people, a spokesman with the Jingning county government told Xinhua.

The local government has also arranged accommodations for the other 15 travelers in a local village, he said.

The 18 people organized the tour group themselves through an on-line outdoor travel club, according to the Shanghai spokesman.
