Chiang Pin-kung, chairman of Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), Tuesday criticized Kaohsiung City's insistence on screening a documentary film about Rebiya Kadeer, a separatist leader from China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The incident will soon pass and the two sides of the Taiwan Straits should develop mutual trust and resolve problems via the exchange of views, said Chiang, while meeting Zhu Shanlu, visiting secretary of Nanjing's city committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Chiang believed that the forthcoming talks between leaders of the SEF and the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) will be held smoothly in accordance with the schedule.
Zhu led a CPC delegation to make exchanges with the counterpart organ of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party in Taipei County. He also hoped to help promote economic and trade relations across the Taiwan Straits.
