18 new key projects kick starts development of western region

On October 12, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) released a list of 18 new key projects to develop the western region starting this year with a total investment of about 468.9 billion yuan.

The 18 projects comprise: the Chengdu-Lanzhou railway; the Chongqing-Guiyang railway; the Kunming-Nanning railway; the Guangtong-Dali railway; the Lijiang-Shangri'la railway; the Xi'an-Baoji passenger railway; a second Lanzhou-Urumqi railway; a second Xi'an-Ankang railway; the Guangyuan-Nanchong expressway; the Shiba-Naxi section of the Ximen-Chengdu expressway; the Ankang-Hanzhong expressway in Shaanxi province; the Luding Hydropower Station on the Dadu River in Sichuan province and the Gongguo Bridge Hydropower Station on the Lancang River in Yunnan province; the Yuliang and Laokou maritime hubs; the Tingzikou Hydro Project on the Jialing River in Sichuan province; the Chengdu Shuangliu Airport re-construction and expansion project; the Xi’an Xianyang International Airport re-construction and expansion project; the regional airport in the western region project; and the power construction project in regions without power.
