China's Ministry of Health is improving its "online spokesman system" by establishing an online spokesman platform on the official website of the Ministry of Health, said Deng Haihua, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, on the 4th Health Communication Convention held in Tsinghua University on Nov. 7th.

"We collected public opinions and problems from 'the minister's mail box' and the hotline '12310', and responded to these opinions and problems by this platform. Important policies, such as the knowledge of H1N1 flu, will also be issued by this platform," said Deng, "Our background operation staff are now trying to improve this platform, as soon as the platform is mature enough to operate, we will regularly issue what we have done and what we are going to do on this platform."

Yan Jiangying, spokeswoman of the State Food and Drug Administration, also made a speech on the Convention. "There was a BBS on our official website where people could leave messages and ask questions. Any question raised on that BBS would be answered. If everyone in this country had raised a question, we would have answered every one of them. The online spokesman system made our work more systematic and operable. This system was appeared not in the form of a real spokesman, but in the form of answering people's questions," Yan said, "Now you can try to log on the official website of the State Food and Drug Administration, raise a question on the BBS and see if your question will be answered."
