Five people were killed and two others seriously injured Sunday in a killing spree in Maonan Autonomous County of Huanjiang in southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, local authorities said.

The suspect killer surnamed Shi allegedly broke into his girl friend's home in Yamai village and tried to kill whoever he met as the family disapproved his relationship with their daughter, said county head Jiang Xiangming.

A total of 300 policemen are searching a mountain for the suspect who fled the scene, Jiang said.

Road blocks are set up and cars are inspected to prevent the suspect from leaving the county.

Jiang said the police is investigating the case and gave no further details.
